Travel Nursing: The Time has Come!

This winter is about to look drastically different for us. I mean drastically in all its meaning. We are moving to the desert!! Writing those words makes me feel a whole range of emotions. Sad we have to say goodbye to our friends here in Colorado Springs. Glum knowing we won't get to see our beautiful Colorado mountain winters that we both love so much. Excited and giddy about this new uncertain adventure that lies ahead of us. Anxious to see why in the world people would like living in a desert town.  But wait a minute, let me backtrack and catch y'all up on what's been going on...

Caleb signed a travel nurse contract in Yuma, Arizona. Woohoo! This is really happening people and we are thrilled. Yuma is in the southwestern part of Arizona. I've gotta say I am pretty excited about living less than 3 hours from one of my best friends and some southern California beaches, about 6 hours from the Grand Canyon, and less than 3 hours from the Phoenix area where Caleb & I have relatives on both sides of the family.

This is a great time of year for us to get a glimpse into what Arizona living is like. I say that because Arizona has some diverse terrain with some parts being mountainous and getting snow in the winter to the opposite of some parts being desert. I can't imagine being in some parts of Arizona in the summer months where temps stay above 100+. I wouldn't be a fan of that heat. From what I've been reading, it sounds like we will have temperatures well into the 80s and 90s while there in March and possibly even as early as February. January is looking fabulous with the average highs being in the 60s and 70s. This goes back to my earlier statement that this winter is going to look drastically different for us. We will be wearing shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops rather than being bundled up in our long johns, winter clothes, coats, scarves, hats, and gloves.

Other than the weather I don't have any other idea or expectations of what it will be like living in the desert part of Arizona. That's all a part of this adventure.  More posts to come of how the move goes and of our first thoughts of Yuma once we get into town. We will arrive there January 6th. Until then, we have packing to get done and relaxing with family for the week of Christmas. Merry Christmas to each of your families! May you find hope, peace, and love in Immanuel, God with us.
