A hiking & zoo day

Lacey with her two littles. Riley & Leyton. Love them!

This past Monday was a beautiful Colorado spring day up to 71 degrees! It was perfect for another zoo trip and hiking. I had a great morning with some great friends from church at the zoo. I think we all enjoyed the sunshine.

I love how well someone described the months of March & April in Colorado. She wrote, "The forecast for this week is high 80's with a chance of snow"  Perfect explanation and completely true! We can have beautiful spring days, nice and warm, and literally the next day it will drop to the 20s and 30s with snow flurries or snow showers. Then two days after the snow it will be back up to the nice warm spring weather. Gotta love Colorado! I know I do.

After the zoo I then went home and my man and I went out hiking! Love when he is able to sleep earlier in the day so we can get out and enjoy spring and summer days. We finally made it to Red Rock Canyon and hiked around the area. We have been wanting to check this place out since we moved here. (Next week will be a year we've lived in Colorado. Can you believe it?!?) We had a great time hiking and checking out this foothill area of the Rockies. We learned that the term "foothill" here means the area between 6000-7000 feet. So we are correct in saying we live in the foothills with Colorado Springs at over 6000 feet.

Of course, there were awesome red rock formations so we had to climb around on some of them. We climbed up to the top of one area and found a goose laying on her nest! There were down feathers caught in the bushes all around the top of the rocks from her making her nest.

We climbed up these rocks and found the goose and her nest.

Red RocksPikes Peak is in the background with snow on top still.

and THEN this is today two days later from the above fun:

A beautiful snowy day on the first of May. Happy May Day!
