Warm weather hiking has begun!

It feels like spring in Estes Park and summer is right around the corner. Since the sun was shining, the snow was melted, and Caleb wasn't working we decided to get out for a fun hike. The hardest part is picking which hike to go on. There are so many trails surrounding Estes Park and in the mountains. The options feel quite limitless to us which is a lot of fun. We picked one we looked at previously in the winter to hike -Copeland Falls to Calypso Cascades 3.6 miles round trip. We thought we were going to hike it in the snow a couple months ago until we parked at the wrong trailhead and ended up doing a different snowy hike that day.

It worked out well that we hiked the trail now because it was a waterfall hike, and with all the snowmelt happening the water was rushing loud and fast in the river and the falls. We even had a little surprise off the trail you'll see below as you read.

First hike riding on the back and he loved it

Ummmmm, we saw this sign and couldn't help but have a good long laugh. Then we both realized we forgot our llamas...
Snow piles started to appear across the trail as we hiked higher into the mountains and were not far from Calypso Cascades. Thankfully there wasn't any deep snow on the trail for us to sink into. The temperature started to cool down a little too as we climbed which felt nice after getting a little toasty at the beginning of the hike.

This was our surprise off the trail. a young moose. He was the smallest moose we had ever seen. We may not have noticed him if we didn't see the other couple who was taking pictures of him.

The loud rushing sound in the video background is the river along the trail.

Caleb and I are planning to hike a 17 mile trail at the end of the summer so we're excited to get in a lot of hiking in the next weeks to strengthen and prepare for it. I'm definitely not ready for 17 miles at this point even if 13 of the miles are mostly downhill!
