When we decided to stay in Estes Park for Caleb to work as a full time staff nurse we knew we still hoped to travel again someday. And that day has come!! There are many parts of the country we want to visit and re-visit and we think one of the best ways to do that is getting paid to work and travel. Travel nurse contracts are typically 13 weeks long. It is fun to be at one place for about 3 months. We really get a good feel for the culture and a lot of opportunities to explore areas within a day's drive from our location.
Travel nurse jobs usually are not posted until about 2-4 weeks before a travel nurse is needed to start working. We hope to hit the road sometime in May for our first destination. So as of now we still have no idea where it will be. I will update with a blog post on what states Caleb is applying in as soon as we hear about jobs posted within our travel start timeframe.
The other GREAT news is we will be back in Estes Park next summer (2022) for Caleb to work in the ER as a seasonal nurse. He loves his colleagues and the rural emergency medicine and trauma care at Estes Park Health. We love the mountain town of Estes and are thrilled to know we will be back in a year for the beautiful summer season. And are glad it's not a long goodbye for our friends in Estes. It is going to be so hard to say "see you later" to some of them in a few weeks.
If you could travel anywhere in the country to live for 3 months where would you choose and why?
It would be a challenge to make even a Top 10 list for places we want to travel because the options seem endless.
Write a comment with any questions you have, and I will be happy to answer them in the next blog post. Our top questions so far from friends and family have been:
What about your house you bought in Pueblo? and Will you take your RV to travel in?
I'll answer those in the next blog post.

I would love to go to Hawaii!! I've told David this a number of times but even though I'm not the biggest fan of the ocean, I think I would really enjoy the island life :)
ReplyDeleteSince you're planning something for Summer, I would lean toward northwest Montana, say Whitefish area (west side of GNP) but if I was looking for a non-Mountain Area, then upper Midwest, say Ashland or Superior, WI or Duluth, MN. The why is the same for any of those: cool summer nights, great fishing and hiking possibilities.🙂
