New England, here we come!

One of the joys of travel nursing is getting to visit friends and family we don't often see. I can hear my mother-in-love saying "It seems you have family or friends in every part of the country!" Maybe not in every state, but it sure does seem like at each new location we've traveled there has been family or friends close by to see. Even when we went to the tiny village of Barrow, Alaska on the very northern tip of Alaska on the Arctic Ocean we met a girl who Caleb's aunt from North Carolina knew. We connected with her and her husband while there. This first travel contract will not be any different.  Some of you may have heard we were heading to Maine, but a few of our details changed and Caleb has signed a travel contract at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. He gets to work in a busy Level 1 trauma center emergency department.

New Hampshire is the pink state east of Maine (in case your geography isn't stellar).

One of my closest friends from high school lives only an hour away from where we'll be! Sarah (Bush) French and her husband Dan for those Hampton Park friends reading my blog. We are already planning for plenty of time catching up and beach days with our kiddos on the coast of Maine.

My mom is a native to Maine, and I have many relatives on the coast of Maine we'll get to visit. New Hampshire and Maine border each other for those of you who aren't up to date on your geography in New England.

To answer two of the most common questions: What about your house you bought in Pueblo? and Will you take your RV to travel in?

We are going to rent our house part of the year to travel nurses for their 3 month contracts when they work in Pueblo, CO. We will post it on a site that we often used to locate furnished housing when we travel nursed. This works perfectly for us because we don't have to put our furniture into storage.

We ARE taking our RV to travel in. The reason we bought it 2 years ago was to travel nurse in it at some point. Travel nurse contracts are typically 13 weeks long (3 months). We loved the idea of having our own bed to sleep in, not having to figure out what to pack/unpack every 3 months based on our location and what would fit in our Subaru. Any couple or family we met who traveled in their RV, said "Do it!"

I also liked the idea of always having a pair of scissors with us. You don't realize how often you use an object until you aren't in your own home for an extended period of time. Scissors seemed to be the item I forgot to pack each contract and the furnished apartment wouldn't have.

Last week we were covered and surrounded by snow in the CO mountains and it snowed some more last night. Thankfully, there is no more snow in the forecast, so please pray with us that the snow all melts and and the road dries out more before we need to move the RV in about a week.

We found a great RV campground recommended by other travel nurses only 20 minutes from the hospital. Be on the lookout for pictures and shared moments of our 2000 mile journey from Colorado to New Hampshire!
