| This is my girl Cheyenne. Tux is all gray with white paws and is playing with Caleb in the picture below. |
Getting the kittens were a little more complicated than we thought it would be because of the wildfire. We got to the Petsmart on Friday and they said all the animals were sent somewhere else because they were required to evacuate earlier because they were closer to the fire and the animals hadn't been returned yet. They gave us the phone # of the rescue shelter they were being kept at and we called them. A nice lady informed us they should be coming back the next morning at 11. So we went yesterday at 11 first thing because we didn't want someone else to get the one Maine Coon kitten they had listed online. We got there and waited for the animals to arrive. Once they did we saw there were more than 1 Maine coon! There were probably a total of 30 something kittens there to be adopted. Caleb wanted 2 kittens so the first one would have someone to play with so he convinced me it'd be great to get 2. I'm so glad we did and we love them both. I said no more cats though! These are it for us. They are named Tux & Cheyenne. Tux is a male almost 4 months old so he's not an itty-bitt kitty, and Cheyenne is almost 3 months old and a little smaller than Tux. The lady who helped us with the adoption said they are not full breed Maine Coon but are Maine Coon mixed with something. She was not sure since they were rescued cats, but that was fine with us.
This coming week of the 4th is Caleb's last week of vacationing and relaxing. He starts orientation at the hospital next week on Monday the 9th. He decided to not do the Department of Corrections job because he didn't want to be learning two jobs starting out as a new nurse at the same time. He wants to be focused on one position that he can give his full attention too as he learns about being a nurse for the first time. He can't wait to get in to the hospital in a week! The Waldo Canyon wildfire is now 55% contained and has moved west into the mountains. Many people are being allowed back into their homes now as evacuations are in the process of being lifted.
