We went camping!

This past weekend Caleb and I went on our first camping trip in Colorado, and I hope we get to go again this fall a couple more times before it gets too freezing cold at nights. Our community group at church organized the camping trip. It was at Spillway Campground in Eleven Mile Canyon near Lake George, CO. The campground was about an hour and a half west from us in Colorado Springs. Friday evening, we enjoyed time around the campfire roasting smores, cooking dinner, talking and laughing (apparently too loudly because it was after 10 pm and the campground host came and asked us to quiet it down). On Saturday morning, Caleb and I went with a few others to explore the rock outrcoppings that were above the campground. We hiked up and had a beautiful view once we got to the top. We weren't sure if we would make it to the top of the rocks because it was pretty high up and we were blazing our own trail through the boulders and trees, but we made it! After exploring and our hike, we enjoyed lunch cooked over the campfire. I hung out with the girls talking while Caleb went rock climbing in the area with a couple other guys. They seemed to enjoy themselves. We did another hike later in the afternoon, which we found out ended up in the same spot we had trail blazed too earlier! If only we had known about the trail that led right up to where we worked so hard to get to that morning. I'm kind of glad we didn't know about the trail because we would have missed out on all of the fun of making our own way up to the top. Saturday night was fun with brats cooked over the fire and a game. It started sprinkling off and on about 9ish and then started raining heavier so everyone was in their tents by 10. Caleb and I woke up Sunday morning and packed up to head home.  This camping trip was another great opportunity to build our relationships with many new friends, and it was a fun first camping experience in Colorado!

Our view once we got to the top of the rock outcropping above our camp sites. The campground  sites were on the right side of the river in the picture.

We were at the very end of Eleven Mile Canyon and there was a dam forming Eleven Mile Reservoir.

The hiking crew Saturday morning.

The South Platte River in this area is popular for fly fishing. I had never seen fly fishing before in person. It was really neat to watch.

Baby Laura came too! She loved crawling around on the blue tarp they laid down for her.

This is what a lot of the area looked like around us.

Caleb enjoying some rock climbing.

Someone pointed on the double rainbow. The cool thing about it was the bottom part itself was actually a double rainbow, it's just hard to see in the picture. So the top one was a third rainbow.

We are going to Village Seven Presbyterian Church. The community group meets Sunday mornings after the service. It is called Common Ground. The group has many other young couples who are following the Lord and leading their families in His service. This group is very involved in spending time together outside of Sundays as well which has been so wonderful with getting to know more people. Once a month there is a fellowship dinner at a couple's house. Also, one sunday a month we have a potluck lunch after we meet during community time. The women have a book club that meets once a month. I'm looking forward to going for the first time in September. During the summer they read a book which they will discuss in September. Since I did not know about the book, I will just be going to listen and fellowship. Looking forward to joining in on reading the book for October and participating in the discussion. We are so thankful for finding an amazing church family here.
