Walkin' in the snow

On Sunday and Monday while we were in Estes Park, we spent more time in Rocky Mountain National Park. We did a 5 mile hike to a lake, and then also did some 1/2 mile walks around other lakes. We hiked through beautiful snow covered rocks and woods. The snow clouds cleared up so we could enjoy a view of the peaks in the distance from the park.

Cub Lake at the end of our hike.

Frozen river which had water flowing over the ice still. I had never seen a river frozen so thick.
Frozen water cascading over rocks. How cool looking!

Standing on some thin ice. Knowing there was only an inch of water under if it would have cracked. Caleb claimed that after I stepped off I caused cracks all the way to the middle of the lake. Not quite sure if I believe him or if the cracks were there already.

We also enjoyed seeing a large herd of Elk. We tried counting and made it to 150. Here are some of the snapshots Caleb took.

We saw this guy walking in a field in Estes Park. He decided to just take a walk across the road, and stop as a Jeep was coming.
Great picture that shows the mountain life of Estes Park. Just another Elk crossing the road.
