So yesterday was a not so fun day for me. I was sick. blah
Those of you that have had this nasty stomach bug this year knows what my day was like yesterday.
No need to go into the gritty details other than I was rudely awoken every hour because my stomach was not a happy camper.
I learned a few things from this though.
#1 At the first sign of feeling better, that doesn't mean it's the time to jump up and try being normal. Oh no, then you get weak, your stomach starts talking to you all over again, and your reminded you need to take it easy. That was this morning. I mean you can really only take laying in bed sick sleeping off and on for so long.
#2 Being sick like that is one way to build up ab muscles pretty fast. I feel like I did a ton of crunches.
#3 I have a sweet caring husband who takes his nursing job seriously even outside of the hospital. I love that! He was so kind and picked up some soup and popsicles at the store after having worked 13 hours through the night, and then lost some precious sleep getting me to take some medicine and making sure I was going to be okay while he tried sleeping before heading back in for another long night shift.
(He also threatened taking me to the ER for IV fluids after I was showing signs of dehydration). That was enough to make me suck some ice cubes, eat a popsicle, and sip water rest of the night. I had no desire to go to the hospital for some little stomach bug. Although dehydration is a serious matter and people should know when it's time to get to the ER because of it.
The overall thing I learned from this is flu shots are necessary for people like me who are wimps at being sick. What kind of person would want to feel like this for a whole week anyway? One day was bad enough. I've always been against getting a flu shot because I've never felt at risk for it. Well, I'm getting one now as soon as my body is recovered enough from this sickness. Being sick a little over a day was bad enough, I can't imagine feeling like that and even worse for an entire week. Oh goodness, no!
