Colorado Living

When Caleb was finishing up his nursing degree, we started making more serious plans of moving and praying about Caleb applying for jobs in Colorado. This blog came to life then. It has become my journal looking into our adventures and plans of dreams to move to Colorado and then our adventures of moving here and living in Colorado. Our dream to move to Colorado became a reality. I'm so thankful for this blog over the past year 3 years as it's kept a record of a lot of fun. That is why I'm working on documenting more now. Caleb took this picture above while he was hiking a 14er this past fall Mt. Shavano. See that blog post here. 14er Hiking Blog Post

This winter our main adventuring has been skiing. And we have LOVED it!! People ask do I really love to ski, and I get excited to tell them I do. We bought a season pass and highly recommend getting one if you already plan to enjoy many days on the slopes. There are many passes/options out there based on where and how often you want to ski. You will get your money's worth if you are already planning to be out skiing many days from November-May.

Skiing has also been a great time of learning for me not just in ski techniques themselves but in lessons of trust, perseverance, putting aside frustrations, being flexible with unexpected changes etc... The list goes on. But more detail to come possibly in a later blog post. We even got the opportunity to ski with my dad for a day during the week of Christmas!

I've never gotten into the Instagram or Twitter side of social media, but I often think to myself when we are out and about in Colorado that if I were to add a hashtag it would often be #sothankfulilivehere.

We talked about going skiing this weekend, but it's been beautiful spring-like weather so we went for a hike instead. This was a hike we've been saying we should try. The hike was in North Cheyenne Canon Park just about 25 minutes from us. It was Columbine Trail. The total trail is about 8 miles round trip. It's broken into sections called Lower, Mid, and Upper. On Friday we wanted to get outside for a just a little bit and we did the easy section from Lower-Mid trail and back. We decided not to finish the trail because Caleb was getting over a cold so didn't have full energy and it was a little chillier than we had thought it would be since it was cloudy. Saturday we went back out and finished the remainder 6+ miles of the trail and the weather was perfect! It was high of 63 and sunny blue skies. It was a great day for a hike.

Here's a couple pictures from our hike yesterday. This first picture is looking East back out over Colorado Springs. When I see the beauty of God's creation all around in Colorado I'm always thinking, "I'm so thankful I live here."

When my mother-in-love saw this picture, she said she loves seeing sunbeams because just as the sunbeams are always there even when we can't see them, so is God always there although we don't see him physically. What great truth to be reminded of!

  1. I miss seeing such beauty everyday Heather! We will be moving to El Paso this summer so we will try and make at least one drive out to Colorado while we are living there.
